The 2016 winners have been found for the New Zealand Master Pool Builders’ annual Photo Competition, which is judged by some leading industry professionals from New Zealand and Australia.
An incredibly unique entry from Alvin Crosby of Acqua Pool and Spa (Auckland) took out the Commercial Swimming Pools category for a three level swimming pool he was commissioned to design and build on a ship for the President of the United Arab Emirates and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohommad bin Zayed Al Nayhan.
This challenging project, fit for royalty was a deserved winner.
Alvin also took bronze in the Environmental Swimming Pool Setting category.
Carlos Morgan of Morgan Pools (Auckland) took the silver medal in the Commercial category for a stylish indoor pool, with Julian Ogden of Cascade Pools taking bronze for a swimming pool in a resort setting.
Carlos Morgan did particularly well in other award categories, winning both the gold and silver medals in the Residential Pools more than $100,000 category for stunning pools at two luxurious homes.
He also took gold in the Environmental Swimming Pool Setting, gold in the Refurbished Old Swimming Pool and silver in the Residential Pools $50,000 to $100,000.
It was also a successful competition for Paul Fuller of Acacia Pool and Spa (Tauranga) who won gold and bronze in the Residential Pools $50,000 to $100,000 with great designs, bronze in the Residential Pools more than $100,000, and silver in the Environmental Swimming Pool Setting.
Cascade Pools took a clean sweep in the Residential Swimming Pools up to $50,000, with Ron Dixon taking gold, Julian Ogden silver, and Larry Ogden bronze for the company.
Kerry Richard of Auckland Inground Pools and Andrew Newitt of PoolCo Cascade (Tauranga) were the other prizewinners, claiming silver and bronze in the Refurbished Old Swimming Pool category.
“Overall we had some great entries, and I’d like to congratulate all this year’s winners,” says Larry Ogden, president of NZMPB.
