After 11 years working for Steel Construction New Zealand and the last six-and-a-half as manager, Alistair Fussell has left to run his own business.
Bob Hawley, chairperson of SCNZ says it soon became apparent after commencing as acting manager in 2009 that Alistair had the skills to take on the position full time.
“He has been a strong leader and has always been fully committed to the role. This commitment continues as he keeps a foot in the SCNZ door, completing projects and assisting us during the current transition.”
SCNZ’s new manager is Darren O’Riley, who is a former New Zealand franchise manager for Fletcher Aluminium, a division of Fletcher Building, where he worked for17 years. Darren started his career in sales and marketing at Glenbrook steel mill, so has a familiarity with the steel sector. He has also served on the executive of the Window Association of New Zealand for 12 years, the last seven as chairman.
“I’m really excited about the new opportunity at SCNZ and hope to bring the skills and experience I have gained working in the steel and aluminium industries to my new role.”
